WE MET A BACKER IN MEXICO CITY 🤝🤩

Just recently we visited Mexico City (along with a deck of Chili Mafia of course). And guess what? We even managed to meet a Backer! Edgar is this amazing guy that helped us translate the Chili Mafia rulebook into Spanish. As he is from Mexico City, we messaged him if we could meet and even play a round. Edgar gave us a lot of insights about Mexico, and he even brought some local candies for us! 🍬😍 How cool is that? Who knows, we might end up meeting a Backer in the next destination country of the Globetrotter Game Series as well. Take a look at the following video, straight from Mexico City:

Before we jump into this section, we once again would like to thank our Backers who helped us translate Chili Mafia into their language. This is such an amazing gesture that we will surely never ever forget!

DIGITAL SAMPLES ARE IN PRODUCTION! 🏭

So, what is a digital sample? It's a copy of each game component made by the manufacturer for us to check and confirm the size, material, colours and everything related to the physical product, before it goes to mass production. Once these copies are sent to us, we will quality-check them from every angle so to make sure Chili Mafia will be manufactured in the way it is supposed to!

We promised to update you on the production of the digital samples, so we asked our manufacturer to send us a few 'HOW IT'S MADE' videos! (Please note that the products you see in this video are digital samples. These will still be adjusted to have the best possible quality for final production! If there is anything you see that you would change, please let us know, and we'll surely consider your comment!)

UNFORTUNATE EVENT 😮‍😡

Before we go into detail, we want to make it clear to you that whatever happened, WILL NOT AT ALL AFFECT any deadlines or the production and DELIVERY OF CHILI MAFIA! ☝️😉

We believe in being transparent, upfront, and honest with you all the time! So, we thought we'd share the unfortunate event that happened to us last week. We also hope that you will all learn from it and won't be victims of such fraud. We are a tiny publisher with our first game on Kickstarter, and we had to learn it the hard way.

As some of you might already know, raw material prices are rising in general due to COVID, and the board game industry is just as much affected. To cut the story short, we had to make a down payment to our manufacturer so they can stock raw materials for us and keep the prices we were quoted earlier. This is quite normal in any industry. We received the invoice via email (the main channel we used for communications with the manufacturer for the past 5 months) but was not immediately ready to transfer the amount. A few hours later we received another email from the same sender, email thread, signature, and people in CC, telling us that there had been a change in the bank account details and we should transfer to that one instead. Even the invoice was attached with the other bank details (photoshopped obviously..). What made it even harder to notice is the fact that the manufacturer initially told us that the payment for digital samples and the down payment will be transferred to separate accounts. So, without noticing anything strange, we transferred the down payment to the newly received account details. The next day we received another email asking whether the transfer was done. As we already told our point of contact through an instant messaging app we use that the transfer was made, we asked her what the email was for. She told us that it wasn't her who sent that email.. Then it immediately struck us that we were victims of a fraud! 

We never ever imagined that one day such a thing would happen to us. We've been in contact with both banks, and the Florida police department for the past 10 days. They are on the case! Let's keep our fingers crossed that they somehow can recover at least some of it!

We once again would like to confirm to you all, that no matter what happened, Chili Mafia is still on schedule and will make it to your doorstep! 🤗

Likely we'll be locking orders in a month. Once your orders are locked, we can get the manufacturing and fulfilment process going so you receive Chili Mafia as quickly as possible. Don't worry, we will be sending an update when the deadline to lock your orders is approaching!

Let's say you backed the 'MEDIUM' pledge on Kickstarter. In the meantime you changed your mind and feel like getting the 'HELL ON EARTH' pledge. HOW THE BACKERKIT PLEDGE MANAGER WORKS💡

You will receive an email from BackerKit (to the email address associated with your Kickstarter account) with a link to the Pledge Manager early next week. 

The Pledge Manager consists of 2 parts:

I. A SURVEY

We'll ask you to confirm your rewards and share your shipping address. This will help us better fulfil your order and understand your expectations with regards to our future games.

II. THE ADD-ON STORE

This is an exclusive store for Backers only, where you can add extra copies of the game, and other items at special Kickstarter Backer prices, such as:

• Individual playermats
• Limited edition Chili Mafia base game
• Card sleeves
• Promo cards
• and many more!

THE 4 PLAYERMAT DESIGNS ARE HERE! 🌟

More than 60% of you voted for playermats in the add-on poll we sent out during the campaign. So we made these 4 designs available for you in the upcoming add-on store. These individual playermats will be available at discounted prices for all our Backers with access to the pledge manager. 

As Chili Mafia is an 8-player game, we will also have an 8-pack bundle offer for you that will include 2 of each playermat design. For those who enjoy team play, the 8-pack bundle will particularly be useful, as it will allow you to 'mark' the teams using identical playermats for teammates (in case you make teams of 2 players).

LET'S TAKE A CLOSER LOOK AT THOSE PLAYERMATS! 

Unlike the playmat that has a place for the draw deck, discard pile and Hot Properties, these individual playermats are designed to sit in front of every player. This allows players to keep all their Chili Gangs and Hot Properties organised, and set aside their incomplete Gangs (with which they cannot attack anyway, and are not counted during the final scoring).

LATE PLEDGE ⏰

It's been 10 days that the campaign finished. Numerous project followers messaged us about the possibility to late-pledge as they missed the campaign for various reasons (eg: failed payments). We decided to be flexible and have this option available for a limited time. This is the opportunity to inform your friends who missed the campaign to get their hands on Chili Mafia! (Please note that those who jump in now will not be original Chili Mafia Backers!)

DIGITAL SAMPLES ARE BEING MADE!! 🖨️

What? Already?😱 Yes! Our digital samples are being made so we can double-check the outcome these coming weeks. This will be the very first version of Chili Mafia straight from the factory! There is still a very long way to go, but we wanted to share this important step with you. We will also share images and a video once we received them, so you can get a sneak peek at this sample version of Chili Mafia. We will discuss and share with you how we find this first sample and also what we decide to change to make the final product the best possible! 

COMMUNITY ASSETS 👨‍👩‍👦‍👦💡

During the campaign we received several ideas for new cards to be added to the game. As you know we introduced one of them: 'Rumble'. As this promo pack is what's inspired by our Community, we also included 10 blank cards to this pack in addition to the 5 'Rumble' Hot cards, so you can all add new custom actions to your game! We promised you that we would create an Excel sheet where we can all collect our ideas for these custom cards, so when you receive this promo pack, you will have a bunch of options to choose from. 

We took this a little further, and instead of creating just an Excel sheet, we decided to create a Google Drive folder with the name 'Lemery Games Community assets'. You now all have access to this folder here! 

WHAT WE ALREADY ADDED:

• Excel sheet to collect ideas for Action/Hot card and Hot Property cards. Feel free to add your ideas there!(We already added 1 idea for each card type for you!)
• A list of slang words to inspire you to come up with new cards! (This is the way we invented the cards as well!)
• Chili Mafia PNG assets from the Chili Mafia challenge
